A quick writing tip for nonfiction writers that’s also useful for fiction and novel writing: basically, valuable information needs to be earned through personal trial and triumph. The author or character has to show the work of discovering it through experience. If it’s simply heard, learned, researched and doesn’t have a personal, emotional link to the author or protagonist, it’s not meaningful or impactful. And author is more than a collector of information; an author has to have a story, they have to discover something new to share.

PS – I’ll be adding a BIG free guide to writing nonfiction soon, I’ll post on www.writethemagic.com or sign up for the Guerrilla Publishing book/facebook group to get it.
